One thing that surprised us after becoming parents in Japan was how much attention people pay to baby skincare.
Before having a baby, we did not think much about moisturizers, dry skin, or seasonal skincare routines. But after becoming parents, skincare slowly became part of our everyday baby routine.
In Japan, many parents seem to apply lotion after bath time every day, especially because the air can become very dry during winter and babies often have sensitive skin.
At first, we were surprised by how many baby skincare products and routines existed in Japan. But over time, moisturizing simply became one of those small daily habits that naturally became part of our family life.
In our home, we usually apply lotion after bath time and again in the mornings. Thanks to that routine, our baby’s skin has stayed soft, smooth, and chubby-cheeked ☺️
We also liked using a lotion that felt light and easy to spread, especially during humid seasons in Japan when heavier creams sometimes felt too sticky.
The lotion we currently happen to use is the Pigeon Baby Milk Lotion Moisture Plus, which became one of the baby care items we naturally reached for almost every day.
Japanese baby skincare culture felt new to us at first, but now it has become one of the small parenting routines that makes everyday baby life feel cozy and gentle 🇯🇵
