Starting Baby Food in Japan: What We Actually Used

Starting baby food felt exciting and a little overwhelming for us at first, so during the first one or two months, we used a lot of baby food products to make daily life easier.

In Japan, Wakodo and Kewpie are probably the most famous baby food brands, and we used both for our baby. They were especially helpful on busy days or when we were outside the house.

We were sad to hear that Kewpie plans to stop selling baby food products around August 2026, because many Japanese parents have relied on them for years.

We have also been trying other baby food brands in Japan, including The Kindest, which has beautifully made baby meals and ingredients.

For baby food preparation at home, we use a baby feeding dish set from Akachan no Shiro and a BRUNO blender set. They made starting baby food feel much easier and more enjoyable for us.

We sometimes wonder if families outside Japan use similar products too.

Starting baby food can feel stressful sometimes, but it has also become one of the most fun and special parts of parenting for us 🇯🇵
