One baby item that surprised us after becoming parents in Japan was the electric nasal aspirator.
Before having a baby, we had never imagined that parents would use machines to help remove a baby’s nasal mucus so often. But after experiencing baby colds and congestion ourselves, we quickly understood why these products are so popular in Japan.
We currently use the “Shupot” electric nasal aspirator.
Although we expected the machine to be very loud at first, it actually felt quieter and less stressful to use than we had imagined.
We also often use it after bath time or when the room is more humid, because the mucus seems softer and easier to remove at those times.
We also felt that helping our baby breathe more comfortably sometimes made feeding and sleeping easier, especially during nighttime congestion.
In Japan, electric nasal aspirators seem to be very common among families with babies and young children, and many parents recommend them online.
Before becoming parents, we never expected a baby nasal aspirator to become part of everyday life, but now it feels like one of the practical parenting items we are most grateful to have at home 🇯🇵
Baby Items We Used During Colds
The Shupot electric nasal aspirator became some of the baby items we relied on most during stuffy nights and baby colds.
